The aggregator of decentralized exchanges 1inch has started blocking access to US residents based on IP addresses.
According to the terms of use of the service, customers from the United States should not have interacted with it since April of this year. However, only now they have started to receive a message according to which they are probably in a prohibited jurisdiction or using a VPN service with the appropriate location. The developers stated that the latest changes affect the addition of a new pop-up notification and a "technical level of control".
In addition, the project reported that in this way they are preparing to launch a specialized service for Americans:
"1inch Network is in the process of collecting funding under Series B, which has reached $175 million to date (instead of the previously planned $70 million). A significant part of this funding will go to the development and launch of the 1inch Pro product, which is specifically targeted at the American market and global institutional investors in accordance with regulatory requirements."
1inch remains the largest aggregator of decentralized exchanges with a market share of over 66%. Usually aggregators do not collect user data, but this may be required by American law. Until recently, mainly centralized cryptocurrency exchanges were forced to restrict services in the United States. Now regulators have also begun to pay attention to decentralized services, and their developers are trying to avoid possible problems with the law. The creators of Uniswap, for example, had previously removed a number of tokens from the main interface of a decentralized exchange that resembled securities or derivatives in their structure.
