INDIA CULTURE ----UNIQUE TRADITIONS

Indian culture and traditions are something which has not become renowned all across the world. We all refer to India and its culture as something very diverse and unique. Indian culture is full of several unique customs and traditions .Most of these originate from the ancient Indian scriptures and texts, which have dictated the way of life in India for thousands of years.

1- THE NAMASTE OR NAMASKAR OR NAMASKAARA

The namaste is one of the most popular Indian customs and it is not just restricted to the Indian territory anymore. The namaste mentioned in Vedas.Namaste means hello in english.

2- JOINT FAMILY

There exists the concept of a joint family, where in the entire family all live together. This is because of the cohesive nature of Indian society and also helps to one another.

3-INDIAN FOOD

The style of cooking varies from region to region unanimously.Indian food has extensive use of spices and herbs.

4- FESTIVALS

In India a large number of festivals mainly because of diverse religions and groups.Muslims like Eid, Hindus like Holi Diwali , Christians like Good Friday and so on, the number is endless.

5- FASTING

Fasting ia an integral part of Indian culture. Fast express gratitude to the god or goddess associated with the particular day. It is widely believed that by doing so you aredepriving your body of a basic necessity and punishing yourself to cleans off the sins that you have committed until the day of fast.

6-ARRANGED MARRIAGE SYSTEM

The concept of arranged marriage in India traces its origin to as early as the vedic times.

7- INDIAN ETHNIC DRESSES

Indian women are often seen saris and for men kurta-payjama.

8- THE TEMPLES

A large number of temples present here in India. It is also a practice to take off footwear before entering place of worship because they would bring in the dirt to anotherwise cleansed and sanctified environment.
going to the temple often helps in having a positive mind and garnering positive energies which in turn lead to healthier functioning.

9- ATITHI DEVO BHAVAH

Atithi devo bhavah means the guest is equivalent to the god. The guest has always been of importance in the culture.

There exists thousands of traditions in India and quite a few of them would leave outsiders rather curious. But the crux of Indian society and culture has always been to well mannered, polite, respect others and progress together.
