Modi government, which is focusing on road infrastructure has set targets for making 31 km national highway every day. A target was made to build 41 km highway every day last year, but despite all efforts, only 20 km highway construction target was achieved daily. Now the government has provided the expenditure of Rs 72 thousand crores on national highways in the financial year 2018-19, which is more than Rs 3 thousand crores than last year.

In the budget of 2017-18, the budget of the National Highway was 64,900 crores, in which 15,000 km highway was set to target but in this budget, the finance minister has increased the budget amount to 71,829 crores. While the National Highway Construction target has been 11580 km. Last year, the government had claimed that about 41 km of highways would be made every day but the report of the Finance Ministry shows that from April 2017 to November 2017, 4942 km highway was built, on which about 38,485 crores was spent. That is, it can become almost 21 km highway every day.

This time the government has made a lot of focus on Bharatmala Projects. In 2018-19, most money will be spent on Bharatmala Projects. About 4500 km highways will be built under Bharatmala projects. Which will cost Rs 29,663 crores. In the first phase of Bharatmala, a target of 34,800 km road has been set up by the year 2022, of which 4500 km road will be constructed in 2018-19.
