#India celebrated it's 74th Independence day yesterday. #Covid impact was clearly visible in the 'formal' celebrations at Red fort and government offices where the things were toned down over previous years as it was mandated to follow social distancing, health protocols and wear masks. PM #Modi unfurled the tricolour on the Red fort and spoke about the road map to #aatmanirbharbharat , Digital Health ID, Agriculture to name a few.
However, Indian public maintained the tradition of friends & family gathering on their home terraces for kite flying all across India. #iloveindia
This scene in national capital #Delhi captured the spirit of Indian people :
Schools & Colleges being closed in large parts across India, flag hoisting ceremonies were completed without students and only with few staff members.
I have distinct memories from childhood being woken up on Independence day by patriotic songs playing on TV and in neighbouring schools, then going to school, listening to the Principal's address, getting sweets and attending a cultural programme at school before we returned home.
Although much of the flavour was lost, the spirit survived. More #powertoindians to bring out the #bestofindia
