Major changes in POCSO Act, to be punished with rape of girls up to 12 years

The Cabinet approved the ordinance for a change in the Poxo Act under a major decision on Saturday. In this situation, amendments to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses i.e. Poxo Act were given green signal. Under this amendment, the convicts of Rape can be punished with death of children aged 12 or under in the country.

In addition to Unnao in Uttar Pradesh and in Kathua of Jammu and Kashmir, there is an angry atmosphere across the country about such incidents happening after a minor child. There is a demand for punishment of the raped convicts around all. In this background, the government was planning to bring an ordinance to amend the children to amend the Protection Act (POCO) from Sexual Offenses. According to the provisions of Poxo Law, the maximum punishment for this heinous crime is life imprisonment. At the same time, the minimum punishment is a 7-year jail.
