'राजन् मैने न चोरी की है, न चोरों को चोरी करने का कहा है ।
मैने न तुम्हारे धन की तरफ देखा है बिना खोज किये ही मुझे
निर्दोष को सूली पर चढ़ाते हो आपको भारी ब्रह्म हत्या का पाप लग
जायेगा और भी बहुत से भक्त वहां आये थे, उन्होंने भी कहा कि
‘महात्मा'ऐसे नहीं हैं।
फिर राजन् ने सोच विचार कर महात्मा को छोड़ दिया। तब
महात्मा ने भगवान शंकर से पुकार कर कहा कि ‘‘हे भगवान नीति
तो यह कहती है कि करे सो भरे फिर मुझे यह दण्ड क्यों भोगना पड़
रहा था। तब भगवान ने कहा कि हे साधु त् बचपन में खेत में गया
था वहां एक टिल्ली को सूल में पिरोई थी। उसी दिन तेरे सूली लिखी
गयी। लेकिन भक्ति करने से आज तू बच गया।
