The Mighty Minaret !

It was the era when kings ruled masses of land and built a lot of awesome structures to display their might and the masons also put in a lot of effort to bring up such amazing monuments which people today visit in large numbers.

Well one such incredible monument was built in the heart of the today's Indian capital which ages around 900 years.

The minaret is built in the Qutb Complex and is also a UNESCO World Heritage site and the minaret is called the Qutub Minar.

Qutub Minar is a 73-metre (239.5 feet) tall tapering tower of five storeys, with a 14.3 metres (47 feet) base diameter, reducing to 2.7 metres (9 feet) at the top of the peak. It is situated in the Mehrauli district of New Delhi.

The Construction of the first storey of the minaret was initiated by the founder of Delhi Sultanate namely Qutb ud Din Aibak, later in 1220 Aibak's successor further built another 3 storeys but in 1369 the top storey was destroyed due to a lightning strike but Firoz Shah Tughlaq replaced the damaged storey, and added one more.

All in all it was repaired a lot of times sometimes it was lightning strikes wheras sometimes earthquakes did the favour but the thing which is remarkable is that it was relentlessly repaired and upgraded.
