Hi fellow steemians
Today's google Earth surf post is about the largest crater lake of India, The lonar lake.
The lake is in central Maharastra , near the town lonar. The 3D view reveals that it is a conical structure going deeper from surface as though the lad has a belly button. Here is the 3D view for you guys to enjoy the geographic navel ;)
For geologists out there:
Lonar Lake is the Earth's largest and only hyper-velocity impact crater in basaltic rock. Its a 52000 years old formation.
If you have looked closer you would have noticed temples all around the lake.
There is as many as 6 temples around the lake to visit and pray. Thus making the crater lake a sacred place to visit. You can find all the temple's location in the above image.
Now for some clarity. This lonar lake is not the only crater formation in India, there are others too..
