Indictments Shouldn't Look Like Press Releases

It's becoming more apparent that some combination of ignorance to legal processes and a lack of desire to scrutinize any details is making is impeding the public's ability to rationally process what is going on with the activities of the "special" prosecutor and his team in Washington, DC.

Here's a really simple explanation for those who would like to understand why the paper indictments of 13 Russian nationals last Friday by Robert Mueller and his team are irrelevant: None of these Russian individuals are in U.S. custody and none are believed to be currently residing in a jurisdiction that would extradite them. I don't know if they are all in Russia or even if they are all real people but I know none of them are going to be taking a vacation to the District of Columbia to stand trial for the criminal allegations contained in the indictments announced on Friday. You know who else knows this? Mueller. Because they will never be forced to prove these charges in court, his team was able to write the indictments in a manner that is more PR and Criminal Law.

I have no idea about whether this tact has been used to save face, to further advance a narrative or to simply prolong an investigative mandate. What I do know is that if regular people don't start questioning some of the supposed integrity of these legal activities, then we will all be in for more of what we have asked for. This press release disguised as a series of indictments will not do anything useful in the overall investigation no matter how badly people want to see Trump removed from office. By all means, pursue terrorists, war criminals and child sex traffickers to the ends of the earth but think seriously about doing the same for glorified internet trolls. We really need a more informed discussion around what is going on with this whole process.

Here's an article I saw with a rundown of Mueller's pelts so far

I would challenge anyone to identify from this list a plausible link to Trump colluding with the Russians to steal the presidential election. And wasn't that what Mueller was looking for in the first place? Do people even remember?
