Indie Artist Support #2 Musicoin - A series about FREE opportunities to get more exposure for your music

in indieartist •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello guys! :) I am so thankful for all your support on my own music, and I wanna give something back to you!

I will try to provide you with FREE services to help you get more exposure for your music as an indie artist as often as I can.

#2: Musicoin

Rating*

Earn money with it: YES

Amount of work: 3/5

Effect: 4/5

If you want to start earning money with your music, this will be the right site for you.

- I earned about 300 dollars in 2 month -

Musicoin is a quite new site where you upload your tracks, listen to other peoples tracks, get followers and follow others.

Sounds like Soundcloud, but the difference is, that you earn money with every click you get on your songs.

Currently one click is one musicoin. Musicoin is a cryptocurrency and fluctuates like all other currencies. It is currently worth about 2 cents. Which is about 10 times more for one play than on Spotify!

It has been worth 12 cents a few weeks ago. This would be 60 times more than on Spotify. And it could still go up even further. So don`t miss out that chance!

You can also start collecting musicoins now, save them and sell when the price is best.

Start

First thing you gotta do is make yourself an account on musicoin.org.

We would recommend logging in with Twitter, Facebook or Google.

Click on Menu --> Login --> Log in with Twitter/Facebook/Google.

This way you will link your account you just chose with musicoin.

Now you need to wait until you get verified by musicoin. As you linked one of your social media accounts, the verification will go much faster normally.

It takes between a few hours and 3 days usually.

Until you get varified, you can upload one song though already.

Click the upload button on the upper right corner and fill in all the information needed.

A really good thing here is:

If you got a song where the revenue and the rights are shared between you and another person, who also is on musicoin, you can split the coins you get on that song directly.

Just add the email adress or the wallet adress of that other member, add the amount of shares - for example if everyone of you owns 50% of the song revenue then just type a 1 in the field after "my wallet" and a 1 on the field after the other artists wallet/email.

The first coin you will now earn with that song will go into your wallet, the second coin into the wallet of the other person and so on. So you don`t have any work on paying this person out anymore. It`s done automatically.

If you made a mistake here, you can change this split-up later in the settings of the song, no problem!

How to earn musicoins:

So now, you will earn one musicoin with every time someone clicks on your song to listen to it.

You can also earn coins if someone tips you.

You can see the whole amount of plays and tips earned with one song if you click on your song under "My Profile" (find that when you click on your avatar picture in the upper right corner).

You can also see who tipped you how many and the comments you got on that song.

To see your profile how it looks for others, again go to "My Profile" (find that when you click on your avatar picture in the upper right corner), scroll down and click on "View your public profile page here"

On the right you can see an overview of how many followers you have, how many coins you have been tipped in total and how many coins you earned with tips and plays in total.

Note, that you can also spend your musicoins to tip other artists. Go to their song which you wanna tip, and click "Tip 1 coin" (or 5 or 10...).

To listen to other peoples tracks does not cost you any coins. Except if you listen to tracks from "Unverified Artists" (it tells you if thei are in their profile), that will cost you one of your coins per play then.

How to be most effective on musicoin:

Spread, spread spread!

You can directly tweet a musicoin song through the tweet button. Add the tag #musicoinstorm to it to get more interaction. Also follow musicoin on Twitter @musicoins and link them in your posts. They often retweet your songs then.

Be active!

Listen to other peoples stuff, comment and tip on songs you like, tweet them.

Also be active in the musicoin forum, which you can go to on the upper left corner.

Try to get new members to the site.

Just be present and visible within the community.

Well then, let`s get started and enjoy! :)

We will also tell you how to turn your musicoins into real money in a different tutorial, which will come soon!

*Rating goes from 1 to 5  --> 1 for  small amount of work and effect, 5 for great amount of work and effect  (This is only our personal experience with the service)

Very detailed and easy to follow post with great screen shots.

I will be doing a video on Musicoins too soon.

Musicoin is a very exciting development for independent musicians.

Time will tell if it has a future as it's a little frustrating to use right now but it is still in beta testing mode so that's understandable.

Great post. I love that you have indicated the ROI (return on investment). There are lots of great opportunities right now so we need help with focussing on the best. Thanks!

im excited for what's to come!! Great times!!
