Well, the weather has allowed for another opportunity to try and collect local microorganisms from my environment. Normally this time of year the temperatures are a hundred degrees plus. This process requires the weather to be around 70 to 85 degrees outside.
Using white rice I washed it and used the rice wash to also make lactic acid bacteria also known as L.A.B.
The IMO process is arguably the most important process in Korean natural farming. Because of this I have been focusing Less on fermentation. I am trying to conserve my energy for Korean natural farming to this specific process which because of my environment and my current living situation being in flux or limbo rather I have been just patiently laying in wait and focusing on bokashi and worm farming until I could have an area that's more sustainable to live at to fully do this process. But a silver lining has allowed for one last attempt of IMO on this property.
The hardest part of this process for me has been cooking the rice perfectly al dente but I think I acheived that last night.
I have a piece of wood in the video blocking the Sun from directly hitting the collection box if anyone is curious about that. I'm not going to do a disservice to this process by trying to explain it like I know what I'm doing but rather share a video that should help and has been instrumental in teaching people about the important processes of Korean natural farming or just natural farming in general.

Hey @dynamicgreentk,
It seems to me that organic brown rice (which Lundberg also produces) is probably a much better food source for lactobacillus probiotic microorganisms, as organic brown rice is a prebiotic (food for probiotics), unlike refined rice that is not natural due to processing (even if it is organic), and also because refined rice (like refined flour and refined sugar) is food for non-probiotic microorganisms.

There is a specific reason not to use brown rice. I forget exactly what it is lol. Probably not enough starch. I was taught knf is a specific process much like a symphony. My teacher warned that the microbe collection may not be as diverse. In fact maybe because of the prebiotics in brown rice might suppress the diversity. I also dont see many people using brown rice to grow mushrooms either... Now jadam is by Master Cho's son... My teacher called it the rock n roll of the natural farming world! I love it and need to get the book already! Many easier ways to natural farming with Jadam than knf...
