How Important is the Value or the Raport for the Child?
Questions that we often hear after we test or receive report cards. Questions that seem trivial but can have further consequences. Why only the grade or grade / school grades are asked. Actually what's the point of ranking or value it?
According to the lecturer, the evaluation of values education does not measure the mastery of the material, but only measures how competitive a person is in the group. And I agree with his opinion. Can not measure students' understanding only from value alone. If the good grades are not necessarily the child understands the learning materials, and if the child's score is not good then the child will not master the learning materials. Let's just say, we see the situation that often occurs when the exam. There is a clever child in the class but when the exam he is sick and got a bad value end. There are children who are not very good in the class, when the exam he got a chance to cheat and get good grades. Then whether this value can be used to know the understanding of the material in children.
Actually, the value or ranking can lead to discrimination in children? Why? When the child gets good grades, then surely the child will be called a clever child. Conversely, if the child gets a bad score, then he will be called a fool child. This is the right thing to have an impact on the child's psychology. Children are called or labeled smart or stupid of course will get different treatment. Sometimes a child labeled a fool can be a fool with the real meaning, because he has been labeled stupid so indirectly this will be embedded in the child.
Value is not everything. The most important thing is the child can master and understand the material. The child can apply the knowledge he gets in everyday life that will bring benefits in a better future.
