Head of BPS Suhariyanto said, when compared to September 2016 which amounted to 0.394, gini ratio is down 0.003 points.

"Gini This ratio ranges from 0 to 1. If he means he is perfect, if he goes to 1 it is unbalanced In September 2017 this ratio is 0.391, slightly lower than the March 2017 ratio of 0.393 This indicates a decrease in inequality, because efforts to reduce the inequality is extraordinarily difficult, "he said at the BPS office, Jakarta, Tuesday (2/1/2018).

He explained that gini ratio in urban areas in September 2017 was recorded at 0.404, or decreased compared to the gini ratio of March 2017 which amounted to 0.407 and gini ratio of September 2016 which amounted to 0.409.

"Inequality in urban areas is much higher than in rural areas, in urban areas in September 2017 0.404 in the countryside is 0.320.And according to low expenditure, if above 17 percent the inequality is low.As between 12 percent-17 percent the inequality is moderate, if under 12 percent is high in value, September is 17.22 percent, so it can be inferred low inequality, "he explained.

According to the province, in September 2017 the province with the highest gini ratio was recorded in DIY Yogyakarta at 0.440. While the lowest recorded in Bangka Belitung with gini ratio of 0.276.
