On Dec 23, 2017, The Anthropological Kinship Community (Lingka) of State University of Malikussaleh (Unimal), Lhokseumawe held a commemoration of Mohammad's Birth (Mawlid of Prophet Mohammad) at Department of Anthropology Office.

The event took place simply but solemnly. Not all fellows of Anthropology of Unimal attended the event. Most of them which have participated to this commemoration were fresh students. I presented as a lecturer, and later Ibrahim Chalid - my colleague - was there.

The event was filled with prayers and shalawat (spesial prayer or balad hymns to The Prophet Mohammad), and also provided food. For the cooking was guided by Makcik who has Food Court in our campus. Big thanks to Makcik who helped for cooking, so the food were served with delicious tasty.

At that moment, I was asked giving a welcome speech and preach about mawlid values. I personally was grateful to this event. The students could make the event by themselves without donation from The Faculty. I said that is a brilliant idea. They made social activities independently. It showed that money is not everything, but the idea is most important.

Related to commemoration of Mawlid, I told to them that the purpose of Mohammed as the greatest prophet in the world is to improve the morals of human being. The first message of Islam is not Sharia, but Aqidah or Theology. The theology of Ibrahim was corrupted by his ummah (believers) with supercilious and wrong worship.

Mohammad was presented to purify the Theology. It means that Islam is not a new religion, but successor of religion of Ibrahim. We are connected as ancestry of Ibrahim belief, which are Moses, Jesus, dan finally Mohammad. So, we supposed to understand well that both Jews, Christians and Muslims are tied to kinship and brotherhood, not necessarily to hostile to each other.

Related to morality, the prophet Mohammad became the best example for that. He never hated anyone due to not Muslims. He even prayed that two adherents of pagan religion, namely Hamzah and Omar ibn Khattab convert to Islam. Religion is never be a trigger to hostility.

Islam forbids to make a war the people due to religion identity. War method is allowed if the muslims are attacked or supressed. Islam tells the best way to suggest it, which is by morals example and love. One of most popular hadiths said, that Mohammad's presence in the world is to improve human morality (akhlak).

If we know that the word of Islam is generated by mean of "peace", we should not hate everyone including non-muslims or the muslims with different sect or organization. We need to be the humble muslims who respect to the others.

Anyway, we are all happy with the fiesta of mawlid, and we'll do it again with another gatherings and meetings. Hopefully we can arrange the gathering in every month.

NB : As we have perfectly known, our event was held close to Christmas celebration. So, I personally would like to say to christians in the worldwide and also to my christian students, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2018. May many joys and happiness you get this great holiday. Peace all upon you!

Not forget to @ned @good-karma @acidyo @donkeypong @curie @hendrikdegrote and the others who celebrate this beautiful moment. Merry Christmas to you all.

I am very happy with the mawlid celebration of the Prophet Muhammad on the antimal college campus of antropolagi which is my neighbor's one-sided department. Because when I was in college from the first semester until the last we never held mawlid. I am very sorry this happened in my department. I once invited for maulid, but my colleagues many do not want to come and do not want to participate. I am very happy when many new students are now willing to work together on this good. may Allah bless knowledge and be a charity for all friends. my salute to the lecturer of @teukukemalfasya. I am alumni fisipol 2010.

Oh good to hear that. Happy mawlid to you too

Thanks sir.

Kegiatan yang dilakukan dgn sederhana, apa adanya, tanpa bermewah2 sering kali dapat menciptakan suasana lbh akrap dan lebih dpt "menyatukan" hati dari semua peserta. Lanjutkan.....
