Induction furnace is a device that uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to heat and melt metal. The following are its common supporting equipment:
- Power supply system
Medium frequency power supply
Function: Provide medium frequency current for the induction furnace, and its frequency is generally between 150Hz and 10kHz. It can generate an alternating magnetic field of suitable frequency, so that the metal in the induction furnace generates induced current for heating.
Features: It has a high power factor and efficiency, and can achieve precise power control.
High frequency power supply
Function: Provide high frequency current, and the frequency is usually above 10kHz-1MHz. It is suitable for heating small metal parts or occasions with extremely high heating speed requirements.
Features: The heating speed is very fast, but the power is relatively small.
- Cooling system
Water cooler
Function: During the operation of the induction furnace, the induction coil, power supply and other components will generate a lot of heat. The water cooler takes away this heat through circulating cooling water to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
Composition: Generally includes water tank, water pump, radiator, cooling pipe, etc. For example, for a medium-power induction furnace, the circulating water flow rate of the water cooler may range from a few cubic meters to more than ten cubic meters per hour.
- Feeding and discharging equipment
Feeder
Function: Add metal raw materials to the induction furnace at a certain speed and amount. For different smelting processes and metal materials, the structure and performance of the feeder are different. For example, when smelting aluminum alloys, a spiral feeder can be used, which can evenly and continuously add aluminum ingots.
Discharging device
Function: Pour the smelted molten metal from the induction furnace safely and efficiently. Common ones include tilting furnace discharging devices, which use mechanical devices to tilt the furnace body at a certain angle and pour the molten metal into a ladle or mold.
- Furnace lining maintenance equipment
Knotting machine
Function: Used to make and repair the lining of the induction furnace. It can evenly knot the refractory material into a dense lining structure to improve the service life and thermal insulation performance of the lining.
Type: There are pneumatic knotting machines and electric knotting machines, etc. Choose a suitable knotting machine according to different furnace types and lining materials.
- Control system
Temperature control system
Function: Accurately control the heating temperature of the metal in the induction furnace. Usually, a temperature sensor such as a thermocouple is used to measure the temperature and is combined with a control system to achieve closed-loop temperature control. For example, when smelting steel, the temperature control system can control the temperature control accuracy within ±5°C.
Power control system
Function: According to the requirements of the smelting process, adjust the input power of the induction furnace. Manual and automatic power adjustment can be achieved to meet the heating needs of different stages.
- Safety protection equipment
Emergency stop system
Function: In case of any emergency situation, such as power failure or equipment malfunction, the emergency stop system can immediately cut off the power supply to the induction furnace to ensure the safety of the operators and prevent accidents.
Composition: The emergency stop system usually includes emergency stop buttons installed in easily accessible locations, as well as safety interlock devices that can automatically stop the induction furnace when abnormal conditions are detected.
- Dust removal system
Function: During the melting process in the induction furnace, dust and fumes are often generated, which can be harmful to the environment and the health of the operators. The dust removal system is responsible for collecting and removing these pollutants to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Composition: The dust removal system may include dust collectors, filters, exhaust fans, and ductwork. It is important to regularly maintain and clean these components to ensure their effectiveness in removing pollutants.
Overall, the supporting equipment for an induction furnace plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the furnace. By properly selecting, installing, and maintaining these equipment, operators can maximize the performance of the furnace, prolong its service life, and create a conducive working environment for all personnel involved in the smelting process.
