According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Venezuela announced that on June 18 it will go to the International Court of Justice to initiate a process to settle the territorial dispute with Guyana.

For its part, the government of President Nicolás Maduro said that "it will exercise all the actions before the corresponding legal, diplomatic and political instances, privileging the permanent vindication of the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Venezuelan people over the territory of the Guayana Esequiba".
