The Day For Freedom celebration rally brought approximately 30 thousand people of diverse backgrounds (e.g. ethnicities, races, sexual orientations and political persuasions), not counting event personnel and counter-protesters, to Whitehall, London, in ear shot of Theresa May's residence in Number 10.
By all opinion the event was a success. Mainstream media has already weighed in (even before the event took place) to give its judgment. However, during the event the BBC and other major broadcasters did not provide live coverage of the speakers. In the immediate aftermath the mainstream spin has done its usual thing. I harbor not a shred of optimism that the public will be able to protect its freedom of speech. But I see a silver lining. Quite apart from a love of freedom, turning to crypto is becoming a necessity for security and survival - for states, companies and individuals. Already free speech can take refuge in Dtube, Steemit and Parley. As the physical space of the public realm is closing in around us, a virtual space is opening - which is only fitting in this hyper technological age.
