Foreign backers of the terrorists cannot afford any sort of investigation on the ground in Syria. In the days ahead the Syrian and Russian forces will clear Eastern Ghouta while the OPCW investigation gets going. We've just learned that the Army of Islam was in possession of German military-grade chlorine grenades, canisters of Porton Down chemicals, industrial laboratory equipment, CW technical manuals, etc. Now we know they had an underground network which permitted the secret transport of vehicles from one district to another in Eastern Ghouta.
I bet a lot more will be uncovered about how the terrorists managed to sustain the fight for these past six years, which will point to the critical element of material support from abroad. The OPCW is liable to dig up more than just whether the attack actually took place or not but its report will be confined to its fact-finding mission. The questions and implications caused by the report, however, will yet say leagues to any reasonable person.
