sir smithlabs! the canines are very kind and patient to put up with you in their house, that's nice of them! I did get the migraine answer thanks, she is very interested and thankful for the information. How do the homeless people stay warm in those kinds of temperatures? Where do they eat the meals at, you guys have a bunch of tables set up I guess, maybe should have some heated tents for the winter time or something?

They have the patience of Job, ROFLOL! :)

Let me know if I can help her anymore , Migraines suck!

We pass out blankets, warm clothes, and sleeping bags. Some have small tents. One has made a stove from a gallon can he uses for heat. The eat where ever they can get food. It is a very hard life, and when the get desperate enough, they get themselves arrested....

The Salvation Army, John 3:16, the Iron Gate, Day center for the homeless; and half a dozen other places will help some of them. Some can not get into any of these places, and live up under the bridges, to stay out of the wind. You do what you have to do....

:'(

sir smithlabs! oh so you guys also hand out clothes, blankets and sleeping bags wow! And who buys all that stuff? yeah it seems like little heaters would be good but then they wouldn't be able to afford the little propane cannisters or whatever they use would they?
That is such a problem..why can't some people get into the Salvation Army and such?

That is where we started out, with clothes etc. We get donations, and we buy some. Yesterday I gave a guy my coat, because he didn't have one, and I was wearing two. I got cold after that, ROFLOL! But he got warmer.... :)

Yeah propane is expensive. That gallon can made a nice wood based stove, so he can just use pick up wood to heat and cook with. Good use of a can!

Maybe I should make a few dozen of those....

The Salvation Army has a four story dormitory type facility, but even that is limited, so they screen out some. There are families that will come under the observation of child protective services if they try to get into the Salvation Army, because they are on the streets! Some have a little booze on their breath, so they are OUT too.

Too many good people, in a bad spot!

wow sir smithlabs that's almost like giving someone the shirt off their back, good job. You need to bring an extra coat next time in case you give one of your away. You guys had lots of food left ofer?

Yes, , we planned for 400, and had 250. But out backup plan was to take the leftovers to the Denver House, because they do good work, but they do not have money for food. We take them food every week, and they feed the at risk homeless.

So not a bite will be wasted! We normally feed about 50 every weekend. They will freeze some of the turkey for when they run short. They were thrilled to get the food!

I try to bring extra warm stuff, but we had already given that away....
