Poland asks Trump to build a military base on the Russian border.

Poland has asked Donald Trump to build a permanent military base in the country to support his resistance against Russia. This move will make Moscow angry if it happens.

The Polish government has offered to pay $ 2 billion to form a joint armored division, which will have 15,000 US troops and 250 tanks and armored vehicles.

The written proposal from the Polish defense ministry sent to Washington focuses on the words of President Trump, who last year warned in Warsaw of "a terrible threat to our security and our way of life". Trump added: "We will face them we will win."

"The permanent presence of the US armored division in Poland will help achieve that goal," the Polish proposal said.

"Shaping such a force is necessary to present a firm and defensive challenge to Russia's increasingly daring and dangerous stances that threaten Europe," the proposal said, as quoted by the Independent on Friday (1/6/2018).

Appearing more than a month before NATO leaders gathered in Brussels for a summit, the proposal warned of Moscow's expansion ambitions.

"The Russian strategy under President Putin is to openly disrupt and change the European security structure and reduce US leadership and involvement levels across the continent to weaken the transatlantic alliance," he said.

"The US permanent forces in Poland will send a clear message to Russia about US support for eastern European allies," he added.

The documents, obtained by the Polish Onet news website, reportedly contained information about the possible spread of military and hospital facilities as well as schools and gyms for their staff and families.

As a sign of a growing dispute within the Polish government, the defense ministry confirmed that the proposal was sent to Washington without the knowledge of the president, Andrzej Duda, according to several reports.

Moscow will consider forming such a force in Poland in violation of the NATO Russian Establishment Act of 1997, in which NATO agrees not to deploy permanent forces in eastern Europe.

Discussions between the Polish and Pentagon defense ministries have already begun. Mariusz Blaszczak, Poland's Minister of Defense, said he recently held talks in Washington about having US troops in the country.

While the US Senate Armed Services Committee has asked James Mattis, the Defense Minister, to assess the cost of permanently deploying US troops in Poland.

Trump said last year: "Strong Poland is a blessing for the European countries, and they know it." Strong Europe is a blessing to the Western world and the world.Hundred years after the entry of US troops into the First World War, transatlantic ties between the United States and Europe is as strong as ever and perhaps, in many ways, even stronger. "

Poland currently hosts US armed forces as part of a NATO unit stationed there by rotation, moving between the country and Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

Since joining Nato in 1999, Warsaw wants to build closer security ties with the United States.

Polish officials believe plans for US military bases have become more urgent after the annexation of the Russian Crimean region of Ukraine in 2014, and increased aggression against NATO.
