In order for a child of a Trinidarian father and / or Trinidarian mother to apply for his Trinidad & Tobago Citizenship, he must:
Get your birth certificate in original (It is not necessary to apostille or legalize, but as delivered by the legal authorities of the country where you were born)
Have the birth certificate translated into English, the government of Trinidad and Tobago only accepts authorized translations such as those done at UWI (University of the West Indies) in St. Augustine. UWI Translations cost TT $ 150 per page and take about 1 week (TT $ 7 = USD $ 1). Other type of translations done in home country or by private translators in Trinidad will be rejected.
Obtain an original birth certificate of the Trinidarian father or Trinidarian mother. The process is done at the Ministry of Legal Affairs in Port of Spain and delivered the same day.
With the original country birth certificate, and its English translation, and the trinitadian birth certificate of the original parent, go to Immigration Division (http://www.immigration.gov.tt/) which is part of the Ministry of National Security, in order to introduce papers and start the process that will takes about three (3) months to generate your trinidarian ID.
