I think it's dangerous to think of people as a path to a higher net worth.

Yeah here I understand you, we cannot expect people to be that path to higher net worth. But by making it clear right choice of the circle is a path to higher commitment, inspiration to work harder, strong desire to become better and an encouragement when things go wrong. With all of that, the path to success is possible thanks to ourself and motivation from people surrounding us.
