Hey fellow comics artists!
I was just flipping through one of my new discoveries and thinking, "Man, I am so fortunate to still be able to be moved and excited by comics! The world doesn't stop surprising me!"
This is just one of many awe-inspiring shots from the French comic series, "Le Voyage Extraordinaire" by writer Denis-Pierre Filippi and artist Silvio Camboni, with colours by Gaspard Yvan and Valerie Martineau:
I thought I might do well not just to share what I'm currently inspired by, but also put out the question:
What is making your blood sing these days? What makes you excited to sit down with a pad and pencil and draw?
Hey man - for me it's Jean Giraud all day. It's mainly for the coulour palette and a I'm a tiny bit drawn by the world he creates. By tiny bit I mean a lot, obviously..

I know what you mean!
Whenever I need inspiration for an alien landscape, I find myself returning to his Blueberry work and those epic renderings of the Arizona desert. -So many of the best distant planets seem to follow the Calvin & Hobbes school of alien design.

Ye ye - 'distant' was the word i was looking for. Maybe 'desolate', 'neutral' in a way as well. Anyways, I agree w/ all that.
(Would be cool if the platform would notify me if people reply to my comments..)

It's early days. Somebody told me that Steemit reminded them of FB in the beginning. I don't know if I'd agree, but it definitely has a no-nonsense charm.
I'm still learning the platform (only been here since earlier this week), but I keep an eye on my "Comments" tab for updates to conversations. It's not as handy as a corner notification, but...
Well, early days!

Notifications are a thing... but they haven’t worked in months! If you use any iOS devices, I recommend the app Steemify (and I believe it may have an Android launch soon). It’s a great notification app that I use to keep tabs on things.

Cheers for this - I'm on busy.org atm, which should be a more 'user-firendly' version of it for image-based mediums such as illustrators or comics artists and such. I can't tell the difference, honestly, but even now it took me 3 separate tabs to sift through before I got to replys. Hah. Although it clearly states it is in 'beta'. This is a bit offtopic, though - Sorry

I can't draw but I am drawn to beautiful artwork. It's like looking at your thoughts on paper. That's what draws me to certain art.

I started my comic because I was rereading Gilbert Shelton's Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and right now I am going through Tintin again - so my comic is very much build on old influences. I even made a series about it here on Steemit: Here is the one on R- Crumb with links to the two others about Shelton and Chester Gould.
But if you want new comics I have enjoyed the Danish artist Sven Balslev, and Maijou Outarou whose crazy psykedelic manga, Biorg Trinity, I found two years ago when I was in Japan.
