God’s Word Today:
Luke 5:4-6 NCV
When Jesus had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Take the boat into deep water, and put your nets in the water to catch some fish.” Simon answered, “Master, we worked hard all night trying to catch fish, and we caught nothing. But you say to put the nets in the water, so I will.” When the fishermen did as Jesus told them, they caught so many fish that the nets began to break.
Thoughts to Ponder:
Initiative is a golden virtue constant in pro-active workers, but it doesn’t often translate to a successful endeavor. Working hard is greatly valued in any line of work, but it doesn’t necessarily mean there would be a windfall of success. Working smart gives good traction in any occupation, yet it does not guarantee achieved goals.
The disciples had initiative, they worked hard and also smart, but still they failed to catch fish. They actually caught nothing, all night! Their drive, great effort and their know-how was there yet they failed.
Often times we think we’ve done everything we can to be successful at work, in our marriage, in being a parent, in our friendships and in church work. But still the elusiveness of the goals we’ve set haunt us as we continually fail.
Today we are reminded, we should be guided by the Master.
Let us seek His will, above all. Let us follow Him to attain unconventional success.
Even if it seems He is leading us back to the same initiative, the same amount of hard-work and the same know-how on how to do it as we once did before. Let us be comforted that His goals are the priority, and not ours this time.
Even in facing impossible odds and circumstances success is assured all for His glory! As pointed out, after they followed the Master, “they caught so many fish that the nets began to break.”
What are your plans and goals in life?
Is it in tune with God’s plans and goals?
Let Him be the Master of everything in your life.
Dear Father,
Help us to seek your will in our lives. To be guided by You to constantly work towards Your goals, and not ours, in every aspect of our lives.
Without You in our plans, we are bound to fail.
Help us to learn from our Master Jesus and to fully entrust our everything for us to be achievers all for Your glory!

You see that's the problem I have with Deism, if the Almighty has already planned everything out, and it's all about following that plan, then;
It's all going to happen anyway so whatever we do is part of that plan
What's the point of praying for anything? If God planned to do it anyway, your prayer will appear answered, if not then he won't do it.
Oh and why are all the people in the Jesus pic white? I thought he was meant to be from the Middle East...
