God’s Word Today:
Galatians 6:9 NCV“We must not become tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest of eternal life at the right time if we do not give up.”
Thoughts to Ponder:
How many times in our lives have we bended over backwards for others and yet we’ve been stung by their lack of reciprocation? How many times in our lives have we given respect and courtesy, yet we were disrespected and even treated poorly?
Often times we tend to just close our doors on people and be picky in giving out a helping hand, for us not to go through the same cycle of disappointment again. By doing this we then start to be suspicious of people and be more selfish in our dealings.
Let us be reminded, that the enemy is busy by putting us through bad experiences with people who are selfish in their dealings so that our motives of genuine concern and compassion would melt down towards selfish ulterior motives. The enemy knows when our expectations of compassion and respect are not met; we become frustrated and might sometimes lose heart.
The Apostle Paul tells us, “We must not become tired of doing good.” This is a trait that a true follower of Christ should always focus on as we lend a hand even if it is hardly reciprocated. True Christians will continue to genuinely do good and be compassionate without expecting anything in return, for God is using these experiences to mold their characters and the characters of those they are helping.
“We will receive our harvest of eternal life at the right time if we do not give up.” Let us then persevere to look at these disappointments as tools to draw us ever closer to God and to trust Him even more.
People will fail us and disappoint us to no end, but God will never disappoint us.
Dear Father,
We have been stung once again, but it is through the reading of Your Word we are comforted that You will once again see us through. We pray that you will use us more to help others in ways You see fit.
We also pray for You to send help for us soon.
Praise be Your Name.
