Stop Complaining - Put a New Plan in Place

You've heard it a million times: don't let negative thoughts control your life. But how do you know when to quit complaining? Do you always tell yourself "I'm not good enough, I can't do anything right, or I'm just old"? Do you avoid taking care of yourself because you think you'll end up being a crybaby?

These thoughts are the primary reason why you keep on complaining. When you start having negative thoughts about yourself, you'll naturally start complaining about it. But, before you can do anything about it, you need to stop believing the negative statement that you're making. In other words, to get rid of the complaining and turn it into motivating and empowering statements instead, you have to get rid of the negative thinking that's keeping you from reaching your goals.

If you constantly tell yourself that you can't do something or that you are inadequate, then you're not likely to succeed in anything. If you try to be positive about it and focus on the positives, you'll be more inclined to stop complaining. You'll automatically divert your attention from the negativity and instead give yourself credit for progressing. This is very helpful when you want to make more money. Employ this method by making a list of the things that you like to do, make an assessment of your strengths and weaknesses, and start listing the reasons why you're better than everybody else.

Now, if you start complaining about these things, you will turn it into a point that will push you further away from your goals. Instead of making yourself feel better by focusing on your good qualities, you'll only push yourself further away. Instead of working hard to be perfect, you'll just be working hard to please everyone around you. Instead of complaining that things aren't going your way, you could try to vent your frustrations in constructive ways. For example, instead of complaining that you can't work with somebody because they are too difficult to deal with, find out what you could have done to change the situation so that both of you can be happy.

Another good way to fight the power of negative thinking is to practice positivity. By practicing being optimistic and being grateful for the things that you have, you will develop neural pathways that will make it easier for you to stop complaining. Your brain will associate positively with success with being thankful.

A third way to combat the power of negative thinking is to learn how to use your language. Negative words and phrases, such as "ugh", "loser", and "ugh yes", can literally drive you away from pursuing your goals. If you start using positive words and phrases, you'll actually begin to feel better about yourself. This has a direct effect on your ability to stop complaining. The more your mind is focused on positivity, the more your body will follow suit.

Another tip to combat the negativity of negative thoughts is to replace your complaints with compliments. When you compliment someone or when you hear someone express criticism, your mind will automatically switch to a complaint. However, if you switch your complaint to praise, your brain will start to perceive the person's praise as a form of approval. As your mind focuses more on the praise, your body will begin to respond by re-gearing itself to the negative thoughts. Your ability to stop complaining is strengthened when you have a clear path from your negative thoughts to your desired outcome.

To further combat the negativity of your negative habits, you can also try re-learning how to express yourself. Start making a list of what you like about yourself. Then as you encounter something that you don't like about yourself, you can list the positive aspects of your personality instead of venting out your frustrations. Learning how to change your complaints to positive statements will strengthen your ability to stop complaining and live a happier, more fulfilled life.
