Did You Know That STEEM POWER Comes with Interest Rate, So You Earn More Just By Holding It

Did you know that STEEM POWER comes with interest rate associated with it, so over time you earn more STEEM POWER just by holding it and doing nothing? Want to check that, just take a note of how much you have in your Wallet, wait a minute or two and refresh the page to see a slight increase in your holdings (if you have very little balance like you just started using steemit.com you may need to wait some more time to see a notable difference). So how much is the interest rate and how much STEEM POWER can you earn is a question that needs you do some math to calculate, do note that the interest rates quoted below are just an estimate based on comparing account balance, so they may not be 100% accurate.

Estimated Interest Rate:
0.029% per Hour
0.696% per Day
4.872% per Week
20.88% per Month
250.56% per Year

Here is an example how to calculate:
Assuming you have 10 STEEM POWER in your account you can roughly calculate how much STEEM POWER you will have after a given period of time. Do note that the below method takes into account only simple interest rate calculation and not compound interest rate that would be needed for more accurate calculations...

10 x 1.00029 = 10.0029 Steem Power after 1 Hour
10 x 1.00696 = 10.0696 Steem Power after 1 Day
10 x 1.04872 = 10.4872 Steem Power after 1 Week
10 x 1.20880 = 12.0880 Steem Power after 1 Month
10 x 3.50560 = 35.0560 Steem Power after 1 Year

Again this is just to give you a rough idea as it calculates simple interest rate, the actual numbers should be higher and the reason for that is that the Steam Power you hold increases all the time little by little. So if after the first hour you have 10.0029 the next hour will be earning you 0.029% over that value and not over 10 Steem Power.

Furthermore as you use the steemit website you will be earning extra rewards for your posts and votes and thus your STEEM POWER will grow along with the interest rate you are receiving all the time.

Sort Order:

You said this:
250.56% per Year

Then you said this:
10 x 2.50560 = 25.0560 Steem Power after 1 Year

You are contradicting yourself.

Thanks for pointing that out, mistake fixed :)

Does this calculation still hold

I don't think so @samstickkz and @aka-alias because 15% of the steem created is given to SP holders. As the amount of SP increases and with more people holding it the amount generated is split amongst more existing SP.

I am wondering this too.

This is wrong.
I have 339 power
i get
0.0003% hour 0.0993 SP
0.0070% day 2.3391 SP
0.0483% Week 16.7089 SP
0.2112% Month 70.0908 SP
2.5199% year 854.6690 SP
You could check self here ( https://steemstats.com/#/ )
@jesta make this great tools so you could see this and other great stuff.

As explained above the numbers quoted in the post are just estimates based on observations of the interest accured in the wallet, so they may not be 100% correct...

Yess, but 100 times more than reality is to big difrence.
But i take your point.

Oh, you mean the percentage values... the ones you quoted seem to be wrong actually.

If you get just 2.5% per year how come you get more than double your Steem Power :)

Yess.
Couse it is growth ewery day = you got more so i think it is tottal wath you get when the year is gone. plus increst of tottal wath you earn in one year. i dont know if it is something else. But maby this site is wrong, but not so wrong.

Their percentage values are not correctly displayed, but if you compare my numbers with theirs for the interest rate you will aquire for a certain period of time you will see that they are not that far from each other. They only show the interest rate and you need to add in the coins you already have for the total and compare to the total you get with the calculation described in the article.

Just how can you not mention the yearly inflation-rate of STEEM?
That's the whole point of the interest being paid to SP holders.

So for those with steem power three price must fall more than 20 percent a month to hurt you.

steem power might have an interest rate, but steem itself is inflating. Is there any profit in the end?

Your question could be answered by my latest blog post, it is exactly about this sort of thing.

Nice Info! Thanks-

But that interest can't be spend right? You can't withdraw that money let's say montlhy, If you power down one would have to wait a two years period am I right?

There is a hard fork to go lower the supply from 100% increase to only 9.5% increase with 0.5% decreasing annually in December last year, I wonder how does it affect this interest rate.

I've been researching about steemit interest rate. Does this interest rate still hold?

i don´t see any interest at all. do i have to activate something or why is that?

i Don't want interest is there anyway i can turn this feature down or whatever it may be called. Please help

Steem dollar grants interest too!

Thanks, need to look a bit more into that as well.
