My own choice for doing an internet search is www.duckduckgo.com. I liked it when they kept no records for searches. BUT I LOVE it since they now strip the tracking information away from the new Google application! They are the BAD BOYS of the internet search engines, and they are not well liked. That means that when I boot up my computer, and open the internet, NOW it comes up in duckduckgo!

I recommend this search engine to any and all. Please try it, and I think you will make the change yourself. Read about it here:

Thanks, Toby. Just made the swap!

I'll use them whenever I can, and only Google when I must (and I know it's not important that THEY know.)
Thanks again for the tip.

I really like it, I also use Draze.com to cast a wider net. They are a meta search, that combines multiple search engines into one.
Be Blessed, and ready, my Friend!

It doesn't seem like their time limiter function works too well. That could be a problem for me, as I use that all the time to limit results to within a certain period of time...24 hrs, a week, etc. They don't even have a "past hour" option which I REALLY like, and the others seem to lose results v.v. Google.

Contact them, they are responsive, from what I have heard. I bet they would add that function!
I have not used that filter, but I can see where it is interesting for searching events. I am usually looking for specific things, and get my news more by browsing.

I would assume that the "1 hour" thing would be beyond their current capabilities. I'll let them grow awhile...

I'll testify to that!!!! I have been using exclusively DuckDuckGo for, what is it now, 3 years? Anonymous clued me in to it. Not only does it work great, I can find material with it that the other search engines don't show me. So I find it to be a fantastic research tool. Ha! Just gave away one of my secrets!

A secret everyone should know and use!
They are NOT happy with the gain in market share that Duckduckgo has been seeing, I am sure!I bet they are furious that the trackers they added to their application software is being stripped off! THAT is just too funny; and it is also sad too, that they would have written that in as part of their new search software there at google!

I hadn't heard of them. That's intriguing.
What does that mean? I think I'm missing something.

This search engine mixes all the search data together, then they erase it all when you have your search back, so no one can tell what you were looking at.
They added a traveler to your google search app that records what you do, and reports it back to google, what you searched, no matter if you used google or not.
Duckduckgo strips this information from this new google app if it comes through duckduckgo. They write zeros over all the data that google had collected! Then they get NOTHING back from you.
This is pretty bold of them, and I appreciate their efforts to protect me! I know that google will be pissed, and may take legal action.

Wow, so they just overwrite it?! That's sweet! Good for them for standing up to the beast. What grounds would Google have to take action? If they're taking info, duckduckgo is required to send some, so why not 000s? Ha ha.
Hopefully they get some good lawyers and stick it to Google. They control far too much.

Yes, and google can't sue them, without admitting, in court, that their primary business is data-mining....
Now THAT IS FUNNY!Interesting trap, ROFLOL; they can NOT admit that they are data-miners, so they have to put up with all zeros from duckduckgo!
:)

It's a catch twenty two. Although it's one that I'm not sad they're in because they've been data mining for so long that they deserve to get caught in their own trap. Good for duckduckgo for sticking it to them!

There is a game I play with google, when I am in the mood. I enter data into their search engines, that is 100% wrong. I am 1 to 104, male, female, and in between I have addresses in every state, and several foreign countries; and LOTS of Emails, ROFLOL! They must treat hand keyed data as correct, and can NOT protect themselves, or more importantly their databases from direct input. I usually send it from libraries or over free WiFii.
It is a great game, if we all fed them a bad profile a day their databases would be feces within a year.

Ha ha, how do you enter data that you're 1 to 104? You just search for things for a 104 year old? It sounds like you're having a blast. Maybe you can get a macro to do that for you and then you'll multiply your time.

Hadn't thought about a macro, ROFLOL! It is was easy, just find something, and sign up for it. Their data spider jumps on it, and grabs the new data, and files it as real.
I let them do the hard work, He He....

Daffy Duck, for sure, ROFLOL! They are not being treated seriously, because they are not selling search data, and that is the only way the others can make a profit.
But these duck people are making money, and growing, so they must be doing something right!

yes sir it sounds really encouraging, I hope they last and don't sell out when they get big. They must sell alot of advertising though.

They are growing well. Sell outs can be a risk, but the basic reason they are growing is the promise of no search data sold, and it seems to be working.
I think I will route my new Android tablet through Duckduckgo too. They really do NOT like that, ROFLOL!
