You can do that by telling the community what you have to offer (your hobbies) skills if there is any, in short about yourself uploading your picture (optional but important) after done with introduction about yourself.
Then you will make use of tags like "introduceyourself" "newbie" "introduction" etc. But make sure you tag the post "introduceyourself" before others tag's.... That all, community will welcome you and people's who interested in your hobbies will be monitoring you soon or later to give you support.

Details about yourself in the new post and maybe your pic then use the appropriate tags: "introduceyourself" "newbie" "photography" if you upload your pictures together with text then two others tag's either "blog" "story" or your "country; i .e USA, Nigeria, UK, France Norway etc.. I don't know where you from the hehe ..
