My (longer than expected) introduction post :)

in introducemyself • 7 years ago (edited)

Hey there steemit-people!

Since I'm new to steemit it's my turn to introduce myself :)

With this post I wan't you to know who I am, what I do and how I can contribute to this community.

My name is Laurenz, I'm 23 years old and was born and raised in upper Austria.

While doing a five year school for higher technical education, I realised that I want to do something else with my life than taking a normal 40h job as an engineer and have 5 weeks of holiday per year.
Don't get me wrong, for many people this is a fun and nice way, but for me it isn't.
At about the same time I started to get interested in photography and later in filmmaking, and while doing my first longer filmproject, for which I drove 200km to vienna every weekend, I got hooked and knew that's what I wan't to do for a living.

It was a project about the urban boulder community in Vienna:

()

So after my graduation and my year of social service I moved to Vienna because this is where the austrian film business is located.

I got an internship in a production company which produced on a very low production value so they immediately put the big cameras on my shoulder an sent me shooting.

I failed a lot in the beginning because there was nobody to teach me but it also was a really good way to learn fast ;)

After 6 months when my internship ended they offered my a fix employment for 25h so I took it and was happy to earn my money doing something i really like after such a short time!

They even sent me to Ibiza once xD

At the same time my social network also grew and I met amazing people along the way!

With four of them we founded the artistcollectiv "drehlirium" because we wanted to produce a short movie together.

Through some connections we got a really nice location in the czech republic and shot the film there in six days.

It was one of the best times of my live despite the fact we had 17h working days and -10 to -20°C in January!

You can see some of it in the making of video:

Some months later when we finished the post production we did a big party for the premiere of the movie, it was a blast!

At this point a saw how much more fun it is to do your own crazy projects than working on kinda cool productions for a other company.

It was obvious, I had to become a freelancer :D

So in August 2015 i quit the job and since October 2015 I make my living as a freelancing cinematographer!

A few months later we (the people of drehlirium) went back to the castle in the czech republic to chill and have a nice time.

We took a little bit of acid (it was my first time and it was really nice because I had a good set and setting), painted a car and had the idea to do a bandcamp with a festival in the end there.

Two months later, we did it. Welcome to the castle connection festival 2016:

This was again a really nice and intense experience! We got so much heartwarming feedback from all the people and artists who came, so we knew we wanna do something like that more often!

Unfortunately the castle was sold earlier this year so we need a new location :)

Which brings me to the presence.

Right now we are trying to slowly grow our collective in something we all can make a living out of it.

We have a nice office where we currently do the post-production of the latest short film we produced.

We are also in the middle of the pre-production for a documentary about elderly people who are not heterosexual.

In two days we shoot a little story where we embed our showreel material in.

And because it's boring to not have a lot of big ass projects running we are currently trying to buy a similar castle in the czech republic with like 20 other people.

You can buy property really cheap there, so we put our private money in there and do some crowdfunding as well.

The idea is to create an area for artists where they can be productive in a really chilled environment.

And of course do a lot of festivals and workshops there, but more about the whole "buying a castle" thing in a future post ;)

So after you got a glimpse about who I am and what I do I want to tell you how I think I can contribute to this community.

Like many others, I found out about steemit while getting into the whole crypto game.

I find it amazing what possibilities this new technology creates!

So I watched a lot of explanation videos, tutorials, vlogs and analyses on youtube and steemit.

While there are many really nice produced videos with good content, there are many channels with great content but with a lot of flaws production wise which makes the content hard to consume!

With that I can help you! There are many simple ways how to increase your production value to embed your content in a better video.

Since I worked a lot with small budgets in the past, I can give you tips how to improve without buying a 50k camera and a shitload of other equipment.

So when you are a content creator, just reach out to me and let me help you so I can give something back for all the know how you people spread!

Just send me a link to your channel and I give you some tips ;)

To sum up, I'm happy to be a part of this community and I'm looking forward to what the future brings with all this knew possibilities :D

I'm also happy for feedback of course since I'm an cinematographer and no blogger ;)

Greetings from Vienna,

Laurenz

Greetings laurenzkorber, I hope you enjoy it here!

I have observed that people get upset or frustrated when they ask someone to follow them, and that doesn’t occur. There was a reason, following someone was reserved for someone whom you identified with, or you enjoyed their posts, things of that nature.

That kind of following is almost negligible now, since everyone wants to be followed no matter what they have to offer. I have found a sort of solution.

Now days, I follow whomever I comment upon; no matter what. I ask too, that they follow me; I will up vote them as well, if they provide decent content. If I don’t really appreciate their posts, I mute them. Problem solved. So I will follow you, please follow me.

FYI: you actually get more rewards if you up vote others posts, and comment/reply to your own postings. In other words, the more people you help, the more people help you.

I, @carltong, have all kinds of information on my blog, including faucets for free coin. Check my blogs out for that data, as this welcome greetings is just that, a sincere welcome to the greatest social platform on Planet Earth.

I would share two more things with you; first and foremost AVOID BITCOINSBRAIN! It is a HYIP site that stole about $1000 from me. It is a scam. Here is my take on HYIP’s.

IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, THEN IT’S NOT TRUE!

I was so gullible on BitcoinsBrain, that I took all my other coins and invested them into this fund. I was still texting and sending messages a full two weeks after they quit paying me. I could not grasp that I had been ripped off.

Secondly, @jerrybanfield is perhaps the strongest Steemian on Steem today. Check his site out for a free tutorial on how to use Steem. I took it and have learned plenty.

I hope things go well for you on here and once again, WELCOME to STEEMIT!!!

Sincerely,
@carltong
