15 days into Steemit. I guess It´s time to Introduce Myself

in introducemyself •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello Steemit World!

It´s been 15 days since i joined, and after testing, posting, reading, commenting, and voting, i decided to stay.

So i guess i can´t go on without doing an introduce myself post, after all, this is a great community driven by real faces behind the screens.

Hi! This is me:

A little about me

I am 35 years old, Civil Engineer, born in a small town called Ipirá, living in Salvador, Bahia (Brazilian Black Capital, and Best Carnival Festival in the World), and a big curiosity about everything in life.

At this moment, i am unemployed, mostly because Brazil is going through a huge Political and Financial Crisis, where people are getting pretty crazy, increasing the probability that our next President candidates are going to be an ex-president involved in corruption scandals, an ex-army guy that hate minorities, and a TV show host that is actually a good guy, but has never done politics.

Yeah, it´s some pretty weird times here in Brazil, but life goes on.

Even though the job market for Civil Engineers are pretty bad nowdays, i am working on my own construction company, doing some small contracts for now, but aiming for bigger ones.

This bad times also made me realize that i have a depression problem, that i am still struggling with, with good and bad days. I will probably make a post about this, because its a problem that i think everyone should be aware of.

My biggests interests nowdays are financial market, economics (Thanks to this book), and the blockchain technology.

I started a blog a few months ago

And also, in 5 months, i will receive a big present:

I am Happy and Terryfied at the same time!

How did i ended here

Some month ago, while i was learning about financial markets and trading I created a blog with the idea of telling what i have been learning about it. I saw it as a tool to help me learn about this new thing i was trying to understand.

But some bad depressive days came, and i kind of abandoned it.

Then something happened around a month ago: While i restarded my studies about financial markets, i decided to learn a bit more about the Bitcoin, and what i learned, oh god..... It blewd my mind!

As most people in the world, i also saw the Bitcoin as an interesting and promissing money experiment, but still too crazy to make sense of it. Until i started to dig deep about the blockchain itself. And like i said:

That was the time i actually understood what all the fuss around blockchain was about. The blockchain is definetly the base of this century Internet.

This is how i met Steem. Through some Google searches about the blockchain, some articles written here appeared on my results, and that is How i Met Your Mother, i mean, how i met Steem.

My first days here were interesting... At first i thought i would be a place filled with people trying to make some easy money and bots that cheated people in giving them money.

I wrote some posts to test the waters (Why Botcoin is not a Tulip Bubble (but may still be a bubble)19 Industries the blockchain will Disrupt, Exploring the Cryptocurrencies Faucets(Free coins) world. (Or wich Faucets are the less annoying ones))

When i started to dig deeper (Something that could be called the actual STEEM Mining), i started to find people and things like @cryptoctopus, @elear, @utopian-io, @brazilians, @welcoming, @originalworks, @thehumanbot, @lemouth, @thomashblum, and a lot of interesting people posting interesting things about everything!

And that is when i fell in love. Not the possibility of earning some money, but the real fuel behind Steemit: The people.

And what am i going to do from now on

My idea to use steam is at first, read amazing things.

Then, i will probably retake my blog project, to talk about what i am learning about Trading and Financial Markets, writing here and there, to cover the topic.

Another thing that i am definitly going to keep contributing is the @utopian-io project. For those who don´t know about it, its a way to reward people that make contributions to open source projects. My latest contribution.

Also, i want to use this platform to write about personal things, as a mean to help me cope with my depression, like a therapy.

And i also want to help bring in more people, especially the Brazilians, who is a people that for some reason, really like social media platforms...

Good Bye. For now

Well, that´s it. That is my introduction, and you people will probably hear more from me around here.

Bye

Hi Cousin.

It's been a While...

Curiosly, I've been facing some "internal issues" like yours, and trying to overcome the bad days. As we don't keep in touch that much, we don't know a lot about each other anymore.

Maybe the Steemit serve us as a way to "keep in touch".

I'm yet trying to understand all this stuff that you smart guys are talking about. Sor far, I've figured out that we are in the begining/middle of the most important revolution in the economics. Money itself was created as a representation of a value in "gold" and stuff. And money itself isn't used anymore, but it's representations (plastic, credits, etc). Cryptocurrency looks to me like the "natural next step" on the economics.

See you arround here.
Don't be astranger!

Isso ae... Tá bão de inglês.
Depois que tiver tempo vou te passando as manhas

You are welcomed

Ty sir!

Glad you decided to stay. The future of these types of communities look amazing! Super excited!

Welcome
Very intresting story and how you got to no about steemit, sorry about your country, it will surely get better

Hope u enjoy it here

Dont worry, i think everything Will workout in the end. We probably wont turn out another Venezuela like some extreme rights people keep shouting

Welcome to steemit, I am from Algeria, but living in Russia, 32 years old economist, married with one little child, I love crypto world, music, cenema, sport and life generally. ☺

Glad you decided to stay, well worth my vote and a resteem with @welcoming!

Ty sir!
Feels good to recieve a warm welcome!

A big warm welcome, we joined Steem around the same time. There is still so much to learn and to figure out and I'm looking to connect with others who are also starting out and are serious about steemit.

Congratulations on your little present!!! All the best to you and your family.

Ty for the welcoming. I Will definetly follow you, because It seems you have a lot of interesting things to talk about.

I hope you we do :) We made it to Buenos Aires and Bolivia ... we hope we can do a For 91 Days in Brazil soon.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Yes, do It! But i think you will need more time than that.
I would probably need 91 days on each state to actually cover our culture.
Brazil is a so diverse country that each state have its own particular and interesting culture.
Even If you visit only one state. Like, here in Bahia, If you go to the capital, you will a lot of different things than If you visit the south of Bahia or the North, or the central part(Chapada Diamantina. A really beautiful natural place).
91 days Will definetly cover only a small part of Brazilian culture.
If you decide to come to Bahia ler me know, and i Will Tell you what you definetly need to visit.

That's why we always try to cover on those 3 month a smaller portion of a country. It's not possible to do it all. Our favorite spots are smaller places where we can really get to know it but on the other we love the big cities too... We have 2 more month left here in Lisbon but we're already freaking out that we won't get to see everything the city has to offer. I'll let you know if / when we make it to Bahia. Congratulations on your incredible intro post!

Nice! Keep the Chapada Diamantina on the top of your mind. I a Wonderful place If you like nature.
You Gave me and Idea. I Will make a "begginer tour" of the places i have been to, especifically here in Bahia, with personal information about the places i know, maybe even to incentivize tourism here.
Tourism is always good for a country, especially one that welcome Foreigners with open arms...
I Will Let you know.

Great and honest introduction, thank you! 15 days - you're a quickstarter! Had a similar experience. Was extremely sceptical at the beginning but I'm so lucky now networking and chatting with wonderful people, and there's everything from entertainment to excellent information. I won't close my fb-account - I would miss my contacts there. But compared to Steemit it is like some historical stuff. Good luck to you!

It depends on what part you look at...
In design and usability, steem have a lot to catch up, but the system itself, and how the community actually help with the curation os what make It good.(even with all the upvote bots)
Everyday i Discover something interesting, and also It motivated me to get back to writing.
Ty for the welcoming.
