Introducing Myself - Programmer, Game Developer with Opinions on Not as Much as He Thought ;)

in introducemyself •  8 years ago  (edited)

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would go ahead and introduce myself. I go by therajmahal on Steemit.  I'm a software engineer who has primarily done work in the video game industry but I have also worked on military simulations.

I have a lot of opinions on a wide variety of topics and usually no topic is taboo. I'd be happy to write about more technical things like software engineering and game development as well as more abstract and philosophical things like law, politics and Faith.

I enjoy a variety of subject matter and welcome the opportunity to engage in civil discussions on pretty much anything. I also enjoy traveling, jazz, swing dancing (although its been a while!) and sports (mainly watching, but playing a little every now and then as well).

Thanks again and I look forward to contributing as well as reading some of the great content here.

Best wishes to all,

- therajmahal

Game development..!!! Wow.. Follow + Upvote.
I'm planning to pursue my carrier in game development and virtual reality.. They are amazing fields.. + Artificial intelligence as well.. :D

That's awesome oracle (I'll leave out the miserable, it can't be THAT bad :P). Virtual reality is great, I think augmented reality is going to be even greater.

Advances in artificial intelligence are coming so fast it can be hard to keep up. In game development we use state machines, hierarchical state machines, state charts, behavior trees and now I'm sure that machine learning is being used to create better, more intelligent non-playable characters.

Yes, artificial intelligence is just superb field. Well, I'm in love with that field since I've seen "Person of Interest".. But before that, I learned the subject and it was intriguing to use Lisp. But the mixture of virtual reality + game development will be super awesome. Artificial intelligence is already gone deep in game development and further advancing.. So much to learn and less time.. :D :D
League of Legends is one of the example of how artificial intelligence works well in game development. Their bots are improving day by day and its awesome.. :)

Heh, yeah, I've never been that big of a fan of LoL but it does everything really well for those who do enjoy that type of game.

In addition to the NPCs machine learning can be used to classify a player's play style, and with that analysis you can slightly tweak the gameplay to make it enjoyable to a wider audience. :)

Indeed.. Machine learning is another intriguing field. A friend of mine doing PhD in the same field, but I never got hang of it.. I guess I'm a slow learner.. :D :D

Welcome.
Where are you?

I live in the United States, but I have lived in Canada and France as well.

Write something on computer ethics.

I honestly haven't ever considered computer ethics. Was there something you had in mind in particular related to computer ethics?

By the way, I edited the title to reflect your victory ;)
