Steemit is whatever you want it to be. It's a social media space where people can post about their interests and interact with others. It also incentives you to do so by having peoples votes count based on their steem power. The more steem power, the more it generates when they vote on your stuff. Making money isn't something that comes quickly or easily on the platform. It is better just to use this as a great social media space and the little made here or there is a secondary reward. Of course people can and do make some good money on here, but people can't expect that starting out
