Hi! I am Carleen, an ultra runner, traveler, blogger, and corgi mom.

Hello! I am a blogger in the Chicago area with blogs in multiple niches, primarily beauty, food, and pets. I joined Steemit as a way to put out some posts on topics that either don't fit well on my blogs or to share some good content that seems to be buried or lacking attention on my sites. For example, I love to travel, but do not wish to start a travel blog. So I will post those items here. I will probably also share my corgis quite a bit. How could I not share corgis? For now I will introduce myself with some relevant links to my blogs.

Above is my assistant, corgi Ty, aka Puppy on a Roomba. He has a princess corgi sister, Eve. Ty is currently at 2.5 years' remission from lynphoma. I have written extensively about his illness and last year won the Blog Paws Nose to Nose Award for Best Written Blog Post for my article about that: Blogging Adversity and the Journey From Helplessness to Hope

When I am not writing, I am often running. I am a trail and ultrarunner, meaning that I run distances longer than the standard 26.2 mile marathon distance. The picture above was taken at around mile 83 of the Hallucination 100 this past September. It was my first 100-mile race. I am currently training for the Broken Arrow Skyrace, Never Summer 100k, and a Grand Canyon rim-to-rim-to-rim run. I often am found on the trails in all forms of weather having fun and being silly. This was in -8 degree weather a few days ago.
