I know we like garri a lot in Nigeria, but we can no longer allow our ignorance to kill is and our dear doctors.
LASSA fever has been on the outbreak for some weeks now, and it has not been contained. I am writing this article to all Nigerians, all steemians to help spread this news, and educate our friends and families.

WHAT IS LASSA FEVER
Lassa fever, also known as Lassa hemorrhagic fever (LHF), is a type of viral hemorrhagic fever caused by the Lassa virus. Many of those infected by the virus do not develop symptoms. When symptoms occur they typically include fever, weakness, headaches, vomiting, and muscle pains. Less commonly there may be bleeding from the mouth or gastrointestinal tract. The risk of death once infected is about one percent and frequently occurs within two weeks of the onset of symptoms. Among those who survive about a quarter have deafness which improves over time in about half.

LASSA FEVER KILLS TWO RESIDENT DOCTORS IN EBONYI.
these are not hear say, you will find the news on this link.

So doctors are scared to death. We find consultants refusing to attend to patience, delegating resident doctors to those patience, and resident doctors delegating house officers, who in turn throw it at nurses and so on. Why won't they be scared?

News flash:
#DoctorWatchYourBackToo.

Today, A Medical Officer in FMC Keffi has been confirmed to have contracted the much dreaded Lassa Fever.

Seven other Doctors (House officers ) have been isolated.

Doctor, watch your back too ooooo. You cannot save everybody.

Would you blame these persons painted as not living up to the oath of service they took.

Dr. Ahmed and several others paid the ultimate price.

This is the story of a pharmacist :

A colleague of mine had Hemoptysis and Epistaxis some time last two years. I took him to UNIBEN health centre. He had returned from Ekpoma two days earlier from a wedding. That alone to the doctor on duty was sufficient data to diagnose him of Lassa fever.
After all two doctors and a nurse had died from treating Lassa fever patient in Delta State the previous week.
Automatically he was the patient zero. Bringing him means I had to be quarantined too. That's OK. But we were told that they don't have the facility for quarantine.
UBTH was on strike. We left Health center for Mount Gilead hospital where we were treated like those enmarked for death.
My friend was not allowed to come down from the ambulance why they washed where ever my feet touched with all the disinfectants available in the hospital.

We moved from there to Central hospital and the reception was same.

By now it was past 12 midnight.
Calls were placed across to Faith Mediplex who told us not to bother coming.

We called our Amiable Prof. Ray Ozolua by whose intervention we were allowed to stayed at the extreme end of the Heath center walkway (improvised quarantine)
By the time we got to the health center, my friend's mom and sister were waiting but on arrival, they were not allowed to see us. But we could hear them crying and already mourning us while still alive 🤠

The next day morning, we headed for Irrua where my friend tested negative to Lassa fever (Glory).
On further evaluation, he was diagnosed of perforated lumber pneumonia.

When we got back to the health center, we were received with an amazing joy, congratulating us.
Thanking me for displaying true friendship.

At this point, I was mad at them all.
But today, I know better.

The Medical personnel are humans, they don't have immunity against death.
They have loved ones. Even when they pay with their lives in the line of duty, no body cares.

It's painful hearing or reading how several resident doctors, house officers, nurses and others die anyhow because they are attending to Lassa fever patients.

If Dr. Ahmed Idowu was your friend or relative, you will relate better.

Counting the loss of the loss of these doctors, it is therefore imperative to warn everyone out there that LASSA fever kills
