Hahaha, you just have to be sure you have all tools clean, I haven't sanitized mine so far but you could do it if you find you still have issues. I've made a post about kombucha a while ago if you want to see how I do it

They should be quite clean :) I'm considering making a post about it as well (making kombucha that is). I think the issue might have been cold as well

It could also be that, they like to be in no so cold temp... however it doesn't kill it, it just put them to sleep I think.
