My review of Steemit after 2 weeks - work hard kill Facebook

The experiment

I've been invited to Steemit by @noisy... Actually for the second time, because I forgot my pass to the old account, which was inactive anyway due to my disappointment. But this time I decided to gibe Steemit a proper try and conduct an experiment. I decided to show people in my country if it's possible to earn my country's' minimum wage (around $377 at the moment of writing that post) just by posting here. Just 12.5$ a day. You can read about it here:

https://steemit.com/money/@dawidrams/livin-on-a-steemit-my-experiment-to-match-poland-s-minimum-wage-just-by-posting-here

I'm currently slightly exceeding that goal so I will do a lot of buzz in our domestic social media abut the result of my experiment.

Well although I won't became a Steemit millionaire, I still think that it can be a fair source of a half-passive income. Mainly because of a payout structure which encourages me rather to hoard more Steem and Steem Power rather than payout or power down. I'd rather use that money when 1 Steem = 10$ or so. At least. I am not going to touch it for a year. Unexpectedly my best post in terms of earnings (over 42$) was written not in English but in... Polish:

https://steemit.com/polish/@dawidrams/moje-wrazenia-po-tygodniu-ze-steemit

It's interesting how content written in other languages can be so popular.

I also started recruiting new people (you would laugh if I told you about same of my methods) but one of new users invited by me is my cousin: https://steemit.com/@adrianwastag

Take a look at my stats:

Oh no I missed a day:

Steemit vs traditional social media

In case of websites like Reddit the amount of conetenr creators is relatively low compared to the user base. Most of them are just consumers, sometimes even without accounts. But here is a completely different story because most of us are creators and consumer at the same time but we lack a big crowd which would only be consumer. It makes much harder for new users to get promoted, compared to Reddit where is relatively easier to get onto the main page.

In my opinion you are sentenced to succeed here if you are able to add some vaue to the community. If you are a specialist of any trade or industry and you can share and be a mentor that there is a future for you. Create content and interact with your audience, you will see effects in no time.

Steemit owners should use some of their money to bring us well known journalist, influencers, celebrities etc. who could bring more publicity here. I would like to somehow inform Gary Vee about our little thing here....

Hello @dawidrams

Totally glad i saw this post. I follow Garyvee too and his words have changed my perception of many things. It was he who inspired me to start interviews here on steemit.

My guest for tomorrow is @papa-pepper.

Followed you

Thank you. Followed you back. Gary Vee is my inspiration :)

Great thoughts. Thanks for sharing. "Kill Facebook" made me read your post, as I killed my Facebook about 8 years ago. Yes! No to google, fb, mainstream media, and youtube, and yes to steemit, mind.com, duckduckgo and other platforms that do not censor. My small company used to be listed number five on the 1st page on Google but Google has buried me for telling the truth though, ironically, my company is still the very top listing on page 1 for baidu, the Chinese google. One would think China would censor more heavily than America, but sadly, the opposite is slowly becoming true in some aspects of life, like internet searches.

anyway, welcome to Steemit my man.

Thank you! It's really interesting that your company was banned from Google, precious metals? ;)

It's not banned yet, but they just buried it in the search engine so I don't get any leads from Google anymore, re: business, and yes, PMs. the search I optimized my website for was "best ways to buy gold and silver" because I wanted to educate people on the enormous differences of PM futures trading in London/NY and Shanghai/HK, because in reality, they're completely different markets as Western markets only settle for the most part in digits whereas the Eastern markets are required to settle in 100% phys. So after I started posting about 10 years ago on this topic, Google started burying me more and more, to the point of where they might as well have banned me. I used to have Google ads on my blog as well but when I tried to ask delivery for a few thousand dollars that had built up in my account, Google told me my blog was in violation of their "policies", refused to answer exactly what policies my PM blog had violated (besides disseminating truth) and basically stole my ad revenue and never sent me a penny. But, on the bright side, I'm still at the top with Baidu!

Kill Facebook. Yes. I agree.

Cool. Will be looking forward to your future posts. Followed.

Followed back, thank you.

This place certainly brings something new to the table. I feel like getting a lot more involved and hopefully people getting more involved in what I have to say, rather than Facebook with is purely me blabbering on about stuff and getting a few likes.

Hope you become a Steemit millionaire soon!

Very interesting, thanks for posting - Subbed!

Thank you, subbed too.

Already following you mat, long time ago ;)

lovely post

Thank you.

If there would be some big celebs on here do you think there would be more ads from big companies on steemit? One thing I don't like with Facebook is that it's just ads nowdays it was not like that couple years ago.

You need companies to buy ads here to prevent inflation of Steem. We can always do it a different way than Facebook or others. More user friendly.

On the subject of inviting celebs, I've sent out invites to two net celebs in the past week or so. I sent an email to roaming millennial.
The other one is much smaller than her, but much more economically minded.

I'm thinking more about people like Jimmy Kimmel or Charlie Sheen.

Charlie Sheen would be amazing on here, and I would immediately follow him.

I don't think that net celebs should be discounted though. Sure 30,000 fans isn't 30,000,000 but the engagement level of the celeb would probably be higher. Which would make those fans more likely to use and promote the platform.

At this point trying to attract celebrities like Jimmy Kimmel and Charlie Sheen is throwing energy to waste except if you get some face to face time with them, which will increase your chances by little. They have their reputation on the line and will only join something that is proven.

Much wiser to follow jdc and target smaller "celebrities" first. 30.000 followers is nothing to sneeze at, it's a lot.

Maybe we should make a short list of net celebs to target?
Best candidates from my YouTube subscription list
ProJared
Davis Aurini
Aaron Clarey
Engineered Truth
Cody's Lab

What are your top five net celebs?

Well I'm always aiming too high, fking dreamer...

Bringing PewDiePie here would be like best the thing because he has his problems with YouTube.

If Steemit becomes the success we believe, we don't really need to ask ask these big celebrities to join. At this point however, it's good to get these smaller players to join and build good foundation here as they'll be more loyal and can appreciate what opportunities Steem has opened up for them a lot more than Jimmy Kimmel or other celebrities of such status.

It is not bad to dream big however :)

I really don't have good targets on my Youtube viewing list, but if a good opportunity comes I'll mention Steemit. Specially when the video hosting here is available
