Ayo Steemit family!!
My name is Gabriel and I am a yogi/filmmaker based out of Las Vegas, Nevada.
I am so honored and excited to be a part of this movement, I know that this type technology is the future of humanity and TRULY believe that this is an integral part in giving power back to the people. A good friend of mine at a recent peyote ceremony, Jake (@arqetype) told me about the Steemit community and I couldn't believe that we live in a time where this actually exists (seriously a content creator's dream).
Anyway, here's a brief bio, I've made about 28 rotations around the sun thus far on this planet Earth. I grew up in Tacoma, WA and went to Stadium High School (the castle from '10 Things I Hate About You')
here's a drone selfie we took with the principal a few years after we graduated.
After I graduated high school I was selling cannabis unsure of what I wanted to do with my life, I knew in my heart that the longer I stayed in 'the game' it would be inevitable that I would get caught sooner or later (this was back in 2009, before cannabis was legal in Washington State). My dealer always really cared about me and told me that I needed to set a monetary goal for my last year in this business. My goal was $50k USD and with hard work, integrity and determination I reached the goal successfully Summer of 2010. I did this work with only kindness from my heart, I was always the person that showed up on time, never ripped you off, and shared the medicine with a smile. Sharing my love and light bringing weed to the people π It's incredible because I learned so much about people, business and communication during these times, and to this day, those skill sets have had a profound impact on the way I run my (legit) business!
So I packed up my entire life into a Penske truck with my VW Jetta on a trailer, and set off to begin a new life in Las Vegas. I had a desire to get back into school and pursue a career in hotel management (and I really wanted to party π)
I so vividly remember the first day at UNLV (University of Las Vegas) walking onto campus not knowing a single soul, yearning to make new friends and connections. I remember walking into my first class (Food and Beverage 101) on the first day, shocked to see that the auditorium was filled with about 400 other asian people.. Not that their race mattered, but at the moment I remember this strange thought passing through my head 'I am not one of you guys'. Apparently, hotel management is one of the most popular career paths for people from Asia; they fly across the globe to attend this school and take advantage of the valuable internships on The Strip.
I dropped out after a few short weeks, knowing in my heart that this was clearly not my path. Waking up early and sitting in a classroom sucked. I knew for sure that I didn't want to be stuck in college for 4 years, only to get out with no promise of a real job.
So I decided to work full time on the strip, I got a job as a waiter on my 21st birthday at The Cheesecake Factory in Caesar's Palace, saving money until I realized what I really wanted to do with my life. Serving tables in Vegas is extremely lucrative, being a tourist town, hundreds of thousands of visitors came from all over the world. As a 21-year old single guy living in an apartment, $60k/year in tips was a nice comfortable life.
I proceeded to work full time, waiting tables, having the most incredible time serving and making real and authentic friendships with my customers. I remember getting super stoned everyday before work and just having the most blissful experience sharing my happiness. But I knew there was more to life..
my lovely customers that would come just to see me :)
I always showed up and did my best, however my weaknesses included showing up late and always nibbling on french fries from the expo line ππ The General Manager finally got so fed up with me after I made a fun video of an assistant manager getting hazed on his final day of work (it was pretty much a HUGE food fight), I posted it on Facebook and supposedly some of the people from corporate saw the video π΅that was the last straw and after 2 years, I was fired.
I remember at the time, it had been about 2 months since I got involved in a MLM (Multi-Level Marketing [aka pyramid scheme π ]). I was always cautious about them, but this one (Zrii) had so many things that resonated with me. It was all about health, healing, and being financially independent. This one was a 'juice' that was based around Ayurveda (a 5000 year old medicinal practice) endorsed by Deepak Chopra. And like all of these 'opportunities', I scared away all my friends and family trying to recruit them onto my downline.. But one of my high school friends, Will Good (who is now the co-creator of our current company) saw the potential in this company and decided to join me. We had some success and saw that if we became serious about this, we could generate some substantial income for ourselves. After a few months of working together, we found that we had some serious synergy and the entrepreneur seed was planted within both of us. Will ended up moving to Las Vegas to really take this seriously.
fast-forward a few months after Will moved to Vegas, some of the 'leaders' in the MLM company started doing some shady things switching positions and some sketchy money stuff, we decided to leave the company to follow our own passions.
So after I got fired from Cheesecake Factory, I found myself not really wanting to find another job. I knew there was a life out there where I could love and enjoy myself everyday. I declared that I no longer wanted a boss, I no longer wanted anyone to tell me when to come to work, what to wear and how to do my job. I wanted to wake up when I was finished sleeping, and spend my days doing what I love with the people that I love.
This is where Just 2 Guys Creative began. Will had a design background from his arts high school and I always had a passion for taking photos. We decided to start a photo/video production company, telling stories and serving others with our talents in the visual arts.

Jumping to present day - after countless adventures around the globe, inspiring tens of thousands of people,
countless days playing with cameras and drones, all the ups and downs, we are here today still following our passions and doing what we love. Through all the struggle, tough times and never giving up, we now get to enjoy the fruits of all our effort we put into our company.
My original intention with getting into filmmaking is to one day create a film that will shift consciousness. To share a story or an idea that when people finish watching it, they live their life from a different place, a different perspective. I feel that each journey and each step in my path is giving me the skills and information I will need to bring this vision to life.
So yeah! That's my introduction, I so excited to be part of this new community and looking forward to connecting with like minded individuals π
Can't wait to share more with you all!
Love & Light,
Gabe
ps. i also love yoga, meditation, plant medicine, massage, biohacking, and of course, cryptocurrency ;)
