[PSA] introduceyourself posts WITHOUT paper verification are most likely scams

in introduceyourself •  9 years ago  (edited)

"Btw I made 5k by posting fake intro post, I created 4 bogus profil, took photos of travel and stuff from facebook wrote a few things and made over 1000$ per post on average, some users asked me some proof which i ignored. Only thing i had to do was to order 5 sim ( in UK u can get as much as you want) so yeah pretty good site"

Yeah we pretty much knew this was going on. It is crazy but when the Whales are handing out money for pretty girls so fast then the tempation for people to do that is unreal. Some of them have proved themselves when I felt like they were fake but I was wrong. There are a lot of fakes though. Please consider upvoting my newest post. I just upvoted you! I just posted steemit's first pool meeting where I talk about my initial thoughts about it. I was thinking about this whole verification photo idea today and was wondering about the basic presumption of innocence principle. You can't just assume that everyone is guilt of plagiarism or fake accounts and ask them prove that they are not guilt. Society works in the exactly opposite way. Prove that they are fake first and them ask them to defend themselves.

I'm seeing a lot of people doing it and honestly it proves nothing. We got to be careful with this kind of extreme police.

I get the point of the verification and I see a lot of people doing it, but this is by no means a rule of the Steemit community, not even a wide used thing.

The only thing you prove is that the person on the photo is holding a paper, or whatever, saying Steemit and a date. I can ask my cute little sister do do it for me and write a lot of lies on the post. The verification system just doesn't work and won't help in this case.

I am against plagiarism, fake accounts and all this crap. I even wrote a post about this, but let's not go out there flagging people for a missing verification photo that is worthless.

Just my 2 cents on this issue.

@generalizethis Interesting way to game the system, but can you prove you actually did this? Maybe post links to who they are? Just seems like anyone could FUD on this. I'm not calling you out, just asking for substantiation.

check the BCT link under the quotation. (that's why it's there and it wasn't me)
