Introduction to a Teacher Turned Stay-at-Home Mom/Self-Employed Business Woman

 Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Heather, and I am the mother of two, soon to be three, crazy and fun-loving children. 

 

I taught fifth-grade for the past nine years, but with the news of a new baby due at the beginning of August, I decided it was time to take a year off and explore other passions while staying home with the newest member of our family. I have always struggled with my jealousy of other moms who had the opportunity to stay home with their children, so I am excited about the opportunity that awaits me. While it hasn't quite sunken in yet, I know I will soon feel the anxiousness that comes with not going back to work in the next few weeks. Not returning to work is a new experience, and any teacher out there will tell you how awkward it will be to drop my daughter off at school in the morning when I, myself, will not be reporting to my own classroom just across campus.

Staying at home means losing a full-time income; something that will definitely impact my family.
