My dad was a seaman (retired now). So the feeling of not seeing him for literary half of my life even though I am all grown up now is something I simply have to learn to live with. But it gets easier and I must say it really boosts your patience, as well as your love and appreciation for people around you. Thank you for this post, really reminded me of how things were! I live in a different country now, and when I flew home and he was meeting me at the airport I told him that it looks like we swapped places.
