This is me? Oh really..

Hi everybody!
A couple of days ago, my friend @sjennon introduced me to steemit. At first, I was really sceptical about it since I usually don't share my thoughts, story or writings with others. But at some point I had the feeling I need to start opening up.

Together with my Dutch friends (Bas,me, @sjennon)

I was born and raised in a little nice city, Potsdam. It is only a couple of minutes from Berlin. I am proud to say that I speak perfect "Berlin Slang". It makes us unique, a little bit weird and we - yes I admit that - sometimes seem rude to others. But at the same time, we are honest and really heartwarming people. I really love my hometown and Berlin and, of course, the people; I love it so much that I stayed for studying. I spend 7 years studying Economics.

I cannot say that my student life was boring since I traveled a lot and partied really really hard. But I always had the feeling something is missing. I carried this feeling for almost 5 years while studying. After I went to the Netherlands for a year I finally figured what it was: simply me. So basically after almost being finished with my Master's in Economics, I realized I actually don't want to work as an Economist in any company, ever. I had a very great laugh at myself reaching that point. But I am not disappointed at all. It gives me safety in today's world but I also figured that I want to do something else: becoming a writer. All my friends laughed at me and said that I am crazy and that I should cherish my degree and do something useful with it. I took this really hard because I had the feeling they don't take me serious.

I have started writing long before I began my studies. I mostly wrote short stories which disappeared someday. In High School I loved German literature all the time. And sometimes I found myself daydreaming about poems or short stories written by Goethe or Kant. It gave me so much pleasure and a smile on my face. All the time. After High School I did not really got into it again until a couple of years ago. I started to write a novel which is a piece of over 200 pages now. But some ending is missing and it took me almost 5 years to come this far. A couple of weeks ago, I read some passages out loud, to friends. Actually the same friends who laughed at me when I told them I want to become a writer. Well, they were totally impressed by my piece of story and wanted to hear more. But it takes a lot for me to read it to others. I guess this is something I still need to work on.

Currently I am living in Vancouver. My travel thirst, which I have for over 10 years now, is still not over. So I have still almost a year in Vancouver now. I don't know if I will stay here, go back to Europe or travel somewhere else...The only thing I know is that traveling frees my mind and gives me so much impressions for writing.

Well, I know this introduction is quiet boring but I am not really a big writer when it comes to introducing myself. So anyone who got this far, well, thanks for reading ;-) and a big yaaay! Cheers steemit community.
