Thanks, @joeyarnoldvn. Yeah, teaching English overseas is a great way to see the world. You can get immersed in the people and culture much more than if you were just traveling. When I first started teaching English here, I thought I'd do it for 2 years and then move to a different country. But I fell in love with Indonesia and stayed on.

When I read about the noose tightening around your neck, I thought, What accurate and powerful imagery. (Being a writer, I always try to look out for great use of language to create powerful images.)
It's nice that your ex-husband was willing to take care of your dogs. Divorce doesn't have to ruin a relationship.
