I first heard about Steemit over a year ago.
Sounds cool, I thought.
I had been writing various places without getting paid for it, and I had an interest in (although no ownership of) cryptocurrencies and the blockchain.
So I signed up and started writing, right?
Not exactly.
Instead I did... all sorts of other things.
I was working as the head of Customer Service for James Altucher's newsletter business at the time, and things were going well.
I was answering questions on Quora, writing on my own blog, and innovating daily around my job.
Then for reasons I won't go into here, other than to say it was totally amicable, that job came to an end.
Before that, I had worked in a variety of shitty cubicles in various shitty companies in shitty industries for shitty pay. I was in no hurry to go back to that.
Thus began my deep dive into all things side hustle and entrepreneurship.
I made some affiliate sales. I worked on creating products. I was invited to write for Medium's paid platform and made over $200 in 1 week for 1 article, something I just copied and pasted from an existing Quora answer.
I was hooked, despite not yet making even close to enough to replace my previous income. But still, I never got into Steemit. Not until this week, at least.
My account was approved, and here I am writing this "introduce yourself" post. While some of you may find my background interesting, I don't expect this post to do much for most of you.
I only wrote it because the site encouraged me to. Normally I would have jumped right into real content.
That's where I plan to really leverage the power of this platform and community. Like Liam Neeson, I have a certain set of skills, and I'm here to share those skills in writing, and hopefully provide value to this community.
Be sure to follow me here, and in exchange, I'll try to put out a steady stream of interesting and valuable content.
In addition to customer service, I write about entrepreneurship, personal finance, side hustles, self-improvement (but not in a sissy life coachy way), and my own pursuit of personal and financial freedom.
A warning though... a lot of my opinions and ways of doing things are anything but conventional. I'm a contrarian not for disagreement's sake, but because I've tested these things and found them beneficial.
For you, the reader, it means a unique perspective on all sorts of topics. Communities tend to become their own echo chambers where everyone things and says the same kinds of things. I love to shake things up in those environments.
I'm looking forward to being a part of this community and seeing what this platform can do.
More soon...

Hi, I am @cryptkeeper17 I am hosting a contest to sponsor for free at least one person into @steembasicincome, which costs $1.000sbd to join. I would like to extend you invite, it does not cost you anything, and the entire payout is going to sponsor one (or more) new members in this club among the minnows that enter the contest. https://steemit.com/earthnation/@cryptkeeper17/contest-for-minnows-free-membership-to-steem-basic-income-possible-010-upvotes-1517857865
