As a tip, when you join Steemit you have a set of keys on your account, always store back up copies of these off line and only log in on your posting key as this keeps your account safe. Things like your active key or master password (the first password you were given to log in on) should only be used for purposes of account recovery and financial transactions. If you log in on these it broadcasts them on the block chain making your account vulnerable, whereas logging in on your posting key keeps them safe and allows you to vote, post, and comment.
