Hey everyone! My name is Damenicos Eaton but I go by "Nicos" (the last five letters since no one can ever pronounce my name correctly). I was born in Northern Virginia, grew up in both Hampton and Stafford VA, and now currently living in Arlington VA. As you can see, I never lived outside of the Presidents' State, but I have been blessed in my life to have grown up traveling a lot within and outside the United States. Therefore, I am not totally closed off from the rest of the world!
I have been working in the Information Technology sector in the Washington DC area for close to 10 years. In 2008, I was hired as a help desk technician supporting coding and billing software implemented in various military hospitals. Truth be told, I only got the job because of someone I knew (sometimes it's about who you know, not what you know). My computer experience was mainly limited to my own personal devices that I used in the past. The job was a blessing - it afforded me the position to be able to support myself finally. Due to the fact that I was really "green" in I.T., I needed to prove myself. As time went on, I focused on gaining computer experience via the job, plus, I engulfed myself in many aspects of computing such as networking, security configurations, etc. With the hard work, time, several certifications, I moved on to my current job which is a "Systems Engineer." To many, that can take on a multitude of different meanings. With that being said, I specifically work with Active Directory, Windows Server Platforms, Identity Management and Amazon Web Services for the past 6 years.
As far as expectations go in regards to content, there's going to be a lot of discussions, opinions, projects, and teaching revolving around computer/tech, PowerShell, AWS, and other-related topics. The term "noviceadmin" came from a domain name that I bought from GoDaddy suggestions and I haven't really figured out what to do with it lol. However, one of my biggest strengths and worst weaknesses is that I like to dabble in everything. I can always find something about someone or some topic and immediately become interested in it. While the handle name might suggest that I am always going to be involved with computer-related content, I am more than just that. Some of my passions are retro video games, music, Sci-Fi, comics, TV, Magic the Gathering, sports, and social media just to name a few. While I know with trying to create a presence on Social Media, the best thing to do is probably to narrow down and have a niche...don't be surprised if you see a lot of goodies focusing on the topics I just previous listed.
So in the mean time, I look forward to putting myself out there and seeing where this takes me. Thanks for visiting and if you have any questions or inquiries, please feel free to contact me!!
