Hello Steemit!
Kyle and Joe here of the #psychedelic podcast and website, Psychedelics Today. We are semi-new to this community - have been posting a few times, but still learning the ropes and getting introduced to the platform, so I figured it is time for an introduction.
About Psychedelics Today
Psychedelics Today is dedicated to exploring and discussing the important academic/scientific and other research in the field of psychedelics. We are interested in how psychedelics and other non-ordinary states of consciousness relate to the human potential as well as the healing potential that they can foster.
Here are 5 key components of Psychedelics Today:
- Education: Provide resources for seekers, psychonauts, students, researchers, therapists, and other professionals who are looking to dig deeper into the topics revolving around psychedelics. We strive to create a high-quality educational hub for those new to psychedelics as well as those who are already in the field.
- Reform & Social Justice: Helping to shift the conversation about psychedelics to help with drug reform policies and the betterment of tomorrow.
- Science & Research: Help to promote the scientific and academic research revolving around psychedelics. We also strive to challenge the current field to help it grow with integrity and maturity.
- Breathwork: Introduce Breathwork into the psychedelic community as a safe and natural way to elicit non-ordinary states of consciousness.
- Community: We hope to create community through our podcast, education platform, and live events/workshops.
The Hosts
About Kyle
Kyle’s interest in exploring non-ordinary states of consciousness began when he was 16-years-old, when he suffered a traumatic snowboarding accident, which changed Kyle’s life. Since then, Kyle has earned his B.A. in Transpersonal Psychology, where he studied the healing potential of non-ordinary states of consciousness by exploring shamanism, plant medicine, Holotropic Breathwork, and the roots/benefits of psychedelic psychotherapy. Kyle has co-taught two college-level courses. One of the courses Kyle created as a capstone project, “Stanislav Grof’s Psychology of Extraordinary Experiences,” and the other one which he co-created, “The History of Psychedelics.”
Kyle is currently pursuing his M.S. in clinical mental health counseling with an emphasis in somatic psychology. Kyle’s clinical background in mental health consists of working with at-risk teenagers in crisis and with individuals experiencing an early-episode of psychosis. Kyle also facilitates Transpersonal Breathwork workshops.
About Joe
Joe studied philosophy in New Hampshire, where he earned his B.A.. After stumbling upon the work of Stanislav Grof during his undergraduate years, Joe began participating in Holotropic Breathwork workshops in Vermont in 2003. Joe helped facilitate Holotropic and Transpersonal Breathwork workshops while he spent his time in New England. He is now working in the software industry as well as hosting a few podcasts. Joe now coordinates Dreamshadow Transpersonal Breathwork workshops, in Breckenridge, Colorado.
