How does a cat get a name like this? Well, I will save you the details, but I can say she is the most efficient mouse trap I have ever had. I was driving into town one day for supplies and decided to stop by the local animal shelter. I had been thinking of adopting a cat to help with the vole and mice population on my acreage. There were 3 cats at the shelter, and two were loudly meowing asking for attention, pacing in their cages. Deathclaw or just "Kitty" for short just sat in her cage, seemingly uninterested. She was gorgeous and calm, a tiger cat with no vertical stripes and superbly symmetrical markings. When I placed my hand near her cage she sniffed at me, but feigned uninterest. I knew right away that she was the cat I was looking for, and spent the meager $5 to adopt her.

When we got home, I was curious as to how my dog would respond. Thankfully, they met with a wag and a sniff, and knew they would be getting along fine. I set up a little bed with some food and water in the garage and kept it cracked open so she could come in and out during the night to hunt. I had initially planned for her to exclusively be an outdoor cat. However she soon proved herself to be a valuable asset in helping with our pest problems and stole all our hearts. Its hard to believe such an efficient hunter can be such a great house cat as well.

Now "Kitty" lounges about and sleeps inside with the dogs during the day, and goes outside while we sleep to go on her kitty adventures. I never thought I would be a cat person, but she has certainly changed my attitude. If you live on an acreage or have mice around your house, think about adopting a cat. They may prove themselves a valuable friend and asset to your property.

Thanks rndness222!

she is so adorable bet she is happy you chose her. I guess her standoff attitutude won afterall. I could almost see her telling the others cats "Thats not going to work acting desperate watch me I will show him who to pick". Enjoy your cat we have five and love them all and they are amazing mousers.

Yes I agree, she is so smart. I love her independent attitude. We know if we had to leave for a few days we can just leave out some food and water for her and she'll be OK. Our dogs on the other hand would be nervous wrecks!

She had me at meow

This is just perfect!
