I'm from the government and I'm here to help!

Howdy! I am Sean Maday. I am a father, husband, technologist, tinkerer and an Air Force officer. I live in Superior, Colorado and have two wiener dogs.

I don't really represent the government. That was just a cliche quote I used in the title to draw you into this piece. It seems to have worked.

I started an online t-shirt company in 2003 while I was a student at Michigan State. That business, RetroDuck, is still operating in East Lansing, Michigan. Since then I have been an Air Force intelligence officer, a defense contractor, a sales engineer at Google, a product manager at Google, a product manager at Gnip (acquired by Twitter), a software-as-a-service startup founder, and a member of the Mapbox team. Most recently I have run a nonprofit, authored a children's book and I currently wrangle data for a startup called Stabilitas (part of that team is pictured below).

My colleague Blake turned me onto steemit. I love the idea and I am in. I try to publish regularly on LinkedIn but haven't really seen much "return" there on my investment of intellectual capital.

I really respect thought leadership, and see steemit as a great way to get ideas, concepts and observations socialized, recognized and appreciated.

Remember those wiener dogs I mentioned earlier? Do you want to see a picture of them? Of course you do!
