I already have a dutch blog which you can find here: deperfectemens.be. I have this idea of continuing my writing in dutch but to provide English translations to Steemit. I feel I can add a lot of value to people which is something I really enjoy doing. When I expand to Steemit, I’ll be able to reach more people and hopefully inspire some of you. “De perfecte mens” means “the perfect human”. I named my blog this way because I’m obsessed with the pursuit of excellence. “Perfect” here is meant as something to aim at. A goal which may never be reached but it serves as a motivation. This mindset has helped me through my life and I learned it from Bruce Lee who said:

“A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.”

To try and accomplish this “perfection”, I search for the best ways to do things. Some might describe this as lifehacks which it sometimes is. But aside from some little tricks to be more productive I like to dig deep in different fields of life to uncover the fundamental principles of those fields. In judo, for example, you can teach someone all the throws ever invented. But unless you learn someone how to break your opponent’s balance, none of these throws will work. Thus one of the key principles to make a judo-throw successful is the breaking of balance. It is more important and productive to focus on learning these deeper fundamentals than just surface techniques. I believe the same logic can be applied to almost every aspect of life.

I was inspired to take this approach and also to actually create this blog by Tim Ferriss. I was stuck in my life with no clear way to go until I read his blog the 4-Hour Workweek. It really is an amazing book which can help anybody to chase their dreams. Not just by saying some motivational lines like: go for it! But by really giving practical guidelines and ways of thinking that will make you take action and do some things you never thought possible.

So there it is. I’m currently translating the first article I would like to publish which is about sleeping better. Something I had a lot of issues with and managed to fix. I hope my insights into this matter can help some people improve the quality of their sleep.

Please hit me up with any comments, feedback, criticism, help or questions you may have. I am excited to start my journey on the Steemit platform.

Cheers

Tim
